Have the score but not the recording? We read the notation off the page and give you a MIDI file — so you can hear it, load it into a DAW, or practise against it at half speed.
A PDF of sheet music is a picture of notes, not note data. Getting MIDI out of it means optical music recognition first: staves detected, clefs and key signatures read, noteheads classified by pitch and duration, then the whole thing reassembled into a score. Only then can it become MIDI.
We run Audiveris — the strongest open OMR engine — over every page, with a rescue ladder that retries a thin page at corrected rotations, flattened lighting and higher resolution. The recognised score is exported as MusicXML and rendered to MIDI, so you get both: the playable file and the editable one.
A PDF exported directly from notation software reads close to perfectly — the notes are crisp vector shapes. Scans and photographs are harder, and the failure modes are predictable:
